A piano quintet in four movements. With a preface in English and German. Bartok composed this work in 1903/04, and revised it in 1920. He withdrew the work after a 1921 performance in Budapest. This is a reprint of the 1970 edition published by Editio Musica, Budapest.
Inspired by the Bartok Quartets; in three movements: the two outside showing the short, angular themes and rhythmic variety reminiscent of Bartok; the second is rhapsdic and lyric.
