Walton's second symphony came more than two decades after his first. Although begun in 1958, it was not completed and performed until 1960. This edition strives to establish a text based on the composer's final intentions. With a preface, sources, textual notes and facsimiles.
A symphony in three movements. With a preface. This work was commissioned in 1957 by the Liverpool Philharmonic Society. However, an auto accident delayed the work, and it was premiered in 1960 at the Edinburgh Festival. This edition is the urtext of Volume 10 of the William Walton Edition.
