Beach's first commissioned work (in 1892) the Festival Jubilate is also the first known work of an American woman composer commissioned in the US. Commissioned by the Board of Lady Manager of the Chicago Columbian World's Exposition in 1893 for the dedication of Women's Building in October 1892.
